Improving VA Accountability

Statement

Date: June 13, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed S. 1094, the Department of Veterans Affairs Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act. Congressman Bill Flores (R-Texas) released the following statement regarding passage of the bill:

"Our nation's veterans have given much to provide for the security of our nation and our families. They deserve to know that their health care and benefits are in competent hands. With the bipartisan passage of the VA Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act, we are sending a bill to President Trump's desk that strengthens whistleblower protections and streamlines the disciplinary and removal process for poor employee performance and misconduct. We have an obligation to our nation's veterans to ensure that the VA is put on a path to long-term success. I remain committed to working with my fellow colleagues to create a 21st century VA that provides the best possible care and puts our nation's veterans first."
